Self Portrait: The Seasons of My Life.

This is my self portrait. It’s a sun. It’s dimmable, so it comes up and goes under, traveling through the seasons of my life. The elements coming out of the sunbeams, represent the tides of my life and the things that made me who I am today.

The Butterfly stands for transition, metamorphosis, development.

The Lotus flower stands for spirituality.

The Gift stands for my work, designing personal art.

The Guitar: the rock ‘n roll element..very important.

The Christmas Tree: holidays, birthdays..are now so important to me, as I never was allowed to celebrate them growing up, because I was raised a Jehovah’s Witness.

The Cutlery. Cooking is one of the most important things in my life.

The Cloud! Because I’m always with my head in the clouds.

Love: the heart line is in the middle. Cause everything is love, am I right? :-))

The Anchor: because I created my own foundation, which I’m pretty proud of.

The The Hague Stork: symbol of The Hague, my home town.

The Camera: Capturing the special moments in life.

The Lobster: the burgundian aspect.

The Balloons stand for the love of a good party every now and then.Fresh flowers, the beautiful things in life.

And then the most important thing, a good home base.

All these elements combined, make me who I am.

This installation stood in a WW II bunker which was very special to me. I spent quite a big part of my years, becoming an adult in that area. So it was extra special that I got to exhibit there myself.

82 x 111 x 33 cm.
